Many travelers arrive in Tuscany with a list of famous destinations: Florence, Siena, Pisa, vineyards, and postcard villages. And while these places are beautiful, they often turn travel into a race from one attraction to the next.
But there is another way to discover Tuscany. A slower way. A deeper way.
One where travel becomes an experience — not just a destination.
This is the essence of slow travel in Tuscany.
Slow travel is not about doing less. It’s about experiencing more, with all your senses.
Instead of rushing through landmarks, you begin to notice the things that truly define a place:
the scent of wild herbs in the countryside
the sound of wind moving through olive trees
the warmth of the sun on ancient stone walls
the quiet rhythm of rural life
And sometimes, the most unexpected encounters become the beginning of a completely new way to travel.
One day, by chance, a dear friend of mine told me: "My aunt has a small studio where she creates original artworks — unique pieces. She dreams of opening it to people who love art and creativity. I told her she should talk to you."
My answer was immediate. "Of course — I’d love to meet her."
A few days later, I stepped into her studio, the moment I walked through the door, I felt as if I had entered another world.
She began showing me her work with contagious enthusiasm. On the wall were small jars filled with pigments, soft yellows, deep browns, subtle reds.
But these weren’t ordinary colors. They came from plants, leaves, bark, flowers, and roots collected in the Tuscan landscape.
As she spoke about her process, I realized something powerful.
This small studio, inside a Tuscan farmhouse, surrounded by the scent of wood, flowers, and earth… felt like a journey in itself.
That was the moment I truly understood what slow travel could mean.
Not just visiting a place. But experiencing it through creativity, nature, and human connection.
And in that moment, my slow travel journey had just begun.
Inspired by that encounter, we began imagining experiences that allow travelers to interact with the landscape in a completely new way.
During this experience, guests walk through forests, fields, and countryside paths collecting natural elements. Each element contains hidden colors waiting to be discovered.
Then these natural materials are transformed into pigments extracted directly from nature.
Those pigments become the colors used to create a personal piece of art inspired by the Tuscan landscape.
When travelers slow down, something unexpected happens. They stop observing the landscape from the outside… and begin to become part of it.
Instead of collecting only photos, they collect moments:
walking through a forest searching for colors in plants
touching the bark of ancient trees
creating something with their own hands
sharing stories with local people
These are the experiences that stay with you long after the journey ends.
At Unico Stay, we believe the most beautiful journeys are not the fastest ones.
They are the ones that allow you to reconnect — with nature, with creativity, and with yourself.
That’s why we design experiences that go beyond traditional tourism and invite travelers to discover the hidden, authentic side of Tuscany.
Spend a day in nature discovering natural pigments and creating a unique work of art inspired by Tuscany.
A slow and creative experience for those seeking something truly authentic.
