Discover the beauty of the Val d'Orcia among breathtaking villages and historic landmarks.
You can make a pit stop in Pienza, the birthplace of the famous Pecorino di Pienza. Here, the unmistakable aroma of this renowned cheese fills the streets of the historic center, where traditional shops rich in history will make this stop unforgettable.
The ideal continuation of the journey is towards Montalcino and Montepulciano.

The Val d’Orcia is one of the most fascinating places in Tuscany: rolling hills, perfectly preserved medieval villages, and landscapes that look as if they were painted during the Renaissance. This itinerary will take you through three unmissable stops, perfect for a day trip or a weekend dedicated to beauty and taste.

First stop: Pienza, the Renaissance town and the land of pecorino

Begin your journey in Pienza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the true “ideal city” of the Renaissance. Strolling along its cobbled streets, you will discover unique views of the surrounding countryside and historic shops that preserve centuries of tradition.
You cannot leave without tasting the Pecorino di Pienza, with its unmistakable aroma: you’ll find it everywhere, from small wine shops to gourmet boutiques that bring the historic center to life.

Second stop: Montalcino, land of Brunello

Continue on to Montalcino, perched on a hill overlooking the entire Val d’Orcia. This village is synonymous with winemaking excellence: it is here that the famous Brunello di Montalcino was born, one of the most renowned wines in the world.
Visit the 14th-century Fortress, from which you can admire a breathtaking view, and treat yourself to a wine tasting in one of the many historic cellars—an experience that blends culture, tradition, and pure pleasure for the palate.

Third stop: Montepulciano, elegance and noble wine

End the itinerary in Montepulciano, a Renaissance town famous for its stately palaces and underground cellars carved into the tuff rock. Here, the absolute star is the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, best enjoyed paired with typical dishes such as handmade pici pasta with hearty sauces.
Don’t miss Piazza Grande, the beating heart of the town, and a sunset walk along the walls to admire the hills glowing under the golden light.
